Just a Few Opinions.

Hi everyone!

Still waiting to heal up and get my workout done, but this post isn't really about me this time.

I have lately (and previously) read both a lot of hate and praise for Tracy Anderson and her method. Just thought I would write things that are commonly said and state my opinions on the subject as intelligently as possible.

1. Tracy's diet is dangerous/unhealthy/etc.

Well, in a lot of ways, yes it is, especially for the long term.  In her defense, she does say that this is not how to eat for life.  However, I disagree with her saying how her way of eating is the only way.  MANY people have done her method eating healthfully making their own choices and had great results. On Tracy's Facebook page recently, someone asked if the diet plan was absolutely necessary and they replied that it is optional and that many have achieved results with their own eating plans. (This was said after people came out of the woodwork and shared results)

2. Her method injures people.

In my opinion, I think this is a fairly weak statement against the method IF you are paying attention to your body and doing the moves correctly in the sense that ANY exercise can result in injury. Even walking can cause injury (look at me and my poor ankle for example).   You hear about athletes getting hurt ALL the time. Any exercise done in bad form can also cause injury. It's not TAM specific, it's common sense and fact.

3. Her method is not for people with a lot to lose.

Are you kidding me? I know people who have lost 60-70 pounds doing the method and eating reasonably.  ANY type of movement, when done consistently will cause weight loss especially in conjunction with eating right. However, everyone's body IS different and responds to different workouts accordingly. Which leads me to my next one...

4. Tracy's claims that other workouts make us bulk up are bullshit.

Well, back to the whole "everyone is different" statement, I can attest to the contrary- I have tried a lot of workouts in the past.  Notably, I tried to do P90X at one point. Guess what happened? NO weight loss, seemingly NO fat loss, I was just a heavier, more "solid" version of my previously and still obese self.   Some of us DO bulk from certain exercises, some of us do not.  To quote one of my professors, there are no rules, recipes, or regulations when it comes to human beings.

5. Tracy's fans are all a bunch of crazy cult people who are brainwashed by her "teeny tiny" decree.

Well, I do know a lot of people who are big fans of the method and I have yet to meet a "brainwashed" one in the bunch.  Hell, some of you may even think I'M brainwashed too. Your opinion.   Most of the people I know who do TAM do not fully buy into her "teeny tiny" and "perfection" claims, myself included. I call this blog my Teeny Tiny Quest as a play on her words, and perhaps maybe one day I will be close to teeny tiny with hard work and dedication.   As always, I am sure there ARE some who are brainwashed.

6. Tracy should not be making videos, she is not a certified personal trainer.

Yeah, Tracy and SO many other "trainers" you may be familiar with- to my knowledge, Tony Horton (p90x), Jillian Michaels (Yep, THAT Jillan from the Biggest Loser), Possibly Billy Blanks (the Tae Bo guy) and many more (Kim Kardashian, anyone?)  ARE NOT CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINERS!!!! Shocker!  (If I am incorrect in saying that any of these people are not certified, I apologize. I searched and found no evidence that they have any certs) And yet, people still trust in them to change their bodies and their lives.

In short, I believe Tracy can do things for ME, but as far as everyone else, they need to make that choice on their own.  I, for one find it difficult for me to stick with anything that I do not enjoy, ESPECIALLY working out.  I finally feel like I have found something I actually do not want to curl into the fetal position and die at the thought of doing.

Disclaimer- these are MY opinions. If you read this and think I'm an idiot, cool. If you think I'm brilliant, why thank you.  I am not a certified trainer/dietician/etc, just a girl with an opinion.

First Glimpse at Pregnancy Workouts!

Hello everyone!

Quick blog post today- I'm at work, but I noticed that on MollySims.com there is now a short video of Molly and Tracy showing some of the moves from the pregnancy workouts that are coming out!  Very exciting!

You can also view the clip here!

I do want to buy these in case I ever do get pregnant, but I hope that nobody goes out and gets pregnant JUST so they can do these. :)

I am very excited about this, and since Tracy says in the video even non-pregnant women could do them, perhaps these could be a good beginner workout? We'll see.

Have a great day!!!!!

Last day before precleansing

Hello everyone!

Today is the last day I get to enjoy "forbidden" foods for the rest of the month.  Tomorrow I start the pre-cleanse elimination diet, so I had/will have a couple last-day treats.

Treat #1

Greek yogurt!  Dairy is not allowed on the cleanse, so I had for breakfast a cup of Fage 0% fat greek yogurt with some honey mixed in.  I usually don't like honey, but with Greek yogurt, it's divine!

Treat #2

Hot dogs!  I had a hot dog for lunch (processed meats and beef are not allowed but bison/buffalo are), I will miss them but I think my health is worth it.

Treat #3

Tofu burgers!  Remember the post I made about getting the tofu burger mix?  I will be having that for dinner.  Soy (other than tamari soy sauce/nama shoyu/ miso) is not allowed on the cleanse.  I hate to leave my soon to expire tofu in the fridge all month and I have been meaning to make these anyway.

So, the next week I will be eating three meals a day before cleansing with shakes.  I just so happened to look at my Tracy shake mix and to my surprise, those do not have any "bad" ingredients that would cause me to go off the cleanse.  So, breakfast this next week will likely be a shake, as I do not always have the time in the morning to make quinoa porridge.  My think thin bars, however, are a no-no because they have both soy and peanuts, major things you cannot have.

Another allowed food- Glass Noodles- I want to try my hand at making a Korean dish called Japchae- stir fried noodles with vegetables.

The noodles are made of sweet potato starch and are gluten free. :) I will let you know how mine turn out.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Day 1, Part 1

Hello Everyone!

I have to say today didn't go quite as planned, But, first things first-

Let's start with my starting weight- (measurements on previous entry) 281.8 pounds. Wow. This isn't good at all, but it's a starting point.

Another thing that started well and turned bad- my eating! I began my day as I should, with my green juice, an orange, and some tea. Then I started getting cravings. My period has also started this morning.  I ended up eating  my dark chocolate mid-morning, and my first sweet potato at around 11 am. The worst part- I ended up raiding the refrigerator and making myself half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a few slices of salami. I know it's not the worst thing I could have done, but I do feel mentally awful being that it's my first day and I blew it. I did end up making the actual tofu protein soup- I did have everything I need on hand.  That's going to be dinner.

I need to probably come up with a way to replace the Gazpacho. I might suck it up and make it, but I am afraid of a repeat of today happening tomorrow. Or, I might have another sweet potato. Those are filling, the reason for my mini binge was pure hormones.  Also, sweet potatoes cook well in the microwave.  I put a good sized one (poked full of holes and wrapped in a paper towel) in the microwave and hit the "baked potato" button and it came out perfect.

I have super low energy today- have had it since yesterday actually.  Going to gulp down some water and bang out my workout. I will check in on that when I'm done. :)

Interesting...

Hello everyone!

I still have not fully jumped back on the Tracy train, I need to re-evaluate it again because my schedule has changed a lot, making me wonder if doing boot camp is even time-practical.  However, I have not been inactive- Mostly I have been walking. A lot.  As you may or may not know, I have a small dog- an 8 month old Miniature Poodle.  He has been helping me out, by receiving long walk time with mommy every day, at least an hour daily.  That on top of walking to my school when I have class, which is another 30-40 minute walk each way.

I am also back to work, so I am juggling even more- schoolwork, work, puppy time, errands, etc. Therefore I am thinking of just sticking to meta and building up on my cardio and slowly increasing my leg reps as if I were doing bootcamp.

Next, I read an interesting article about CrossFit.  I do not want to sound offending/insulting to those who do it, but last year sometime, my blog was attacked by hard core CrossFitters, they were spamming my comments trying to get me to do it, even wrote nasty things about me, Tracy, etc on one of their forums.  Some of them have also gone on Tracy's facebook page to troll and post derogatory remarks, claiming that Tracy's followers act like we're in some kind of cult.

Well, a lot of them are calling the kettle black, and they're the pot.

I came across an interesting article called "Inside the Cult of Crossfit".  The author was writing about how he had a former girlfriend who was really into it and decided to try.  So he did, for 90 days.  He wrote about how really batshit insane some of the people are, and also about the worries of high risks of injury due to things like poor instruction. Hmmmmm. Sounds like a lot of the trash they were spewing about the Tracy Anderson Method.  Sure, there ARE some TAM followers who seem to act like it's a cult. There's some of those people in any kind of fitness.

If people want to do CrossFit, more power to them! I really don't care what kind of fitness program anyone does as long as they enjoy it.  No need to bash other people for doing something they want.  I don't bash anyone either.  While my blog is mostly about TAM, I really welcome readers from any walk of life to come and discuss. So CrossFitters, TAMers, P90Xers, runners, bodyrockers, whatever your poison, it's welcome here. :)  Just don't be disrespectful like THOSE people were.

I think next Monday (or sooner)I will start Meta, but until then I will keep up the walking, maybe do some webisodes and stretching. I made really nice copies of the workout tracker for meta, I will try scanning them and see how they turn out.

As for diet, I have been pretty good, not perfect but better than I USED to eat.  I just got home from the store after buying some fresh carrots and celery to munch on.  I have some Miso Chicken marinating in the fridge for my protein for the next few days.

Have a happy hump day, and see you tomorrow!

Lazy Sunday

Hello everyone!

Quick post again, took another day off today (feeling a little better than yesterday at least) to get some major cleaning done and to prepare for school coming up in the next week.  Thankfully, my classes are in the evenings so that I have more time in the day to get my workout done beforehand, come home from class and just rest for the remainder of the night.  Also, my classes are only twice a week.   Taking a light load this semester because I am *finally* preparing for admission into my nursing program at school.  I missed the deadline for last semester by JUST a little bit. So, I am really hoping this time does it. If not, keep on trying. (Very competitive, unfortunately)

Also- (I forget if I posted about this before)  I have been weighing in on my wii fit, and sadly, I gained some weight (yesterday was horrendous on the dieting level).

I still have not forgotten about the video blogs.  I am still working out technical issues, and if I am lucky, tomorrow I will at least have something recorded for editing.

I hope you all had a  great weekend. Let's hope this week is a good one! Boot camp for me, how about you?

Email from Tracy 12/15/2011

Hello everyone-

Getting allergy tested ended up being a really draining experince (I had 4 big vials of blood taken too) so I will start my boot camp tomorrow or Saturday.

I did get this email from Tracy though. (you probably did too)

WELLNESS SHAKES TO HELP YOU STAY FIT!
It is with great excitement that after many years of research, testing and developing meal replacements, I have finally succeeded with my Perfect Performance Wellness Formula. This shake is the ideal meal replacement and perfect addition to your daily workout. It takes less than 30 seconds to whip up, which is essential for all of us with busy holiday schedules!
It's easy to gain weight and lose some of your results during the holidays. With all of the hustle and bustle of the season, the last thing you're thinking about is making a nutritious meal for yourself. As women, we are natural caretakers and nurturers, and we often think of ourselves last. This often leaves us feeling depleted, which can negatively affect our health and self-esteem.
It has always been my mission to provide you with the tools and the truth, so that you can feel your best. With so many visions of beauty constantly thrown at us from every direction, you may find yourself wishing that those "quick fix" claims really worked. But for 13 years my career has been dedicated to supporting you and helping you become your healthiest self. With Metamorphosis, you have already found that there are no shortcuts to the perfect body. Just like with your workouts, you need to devote time each day to eating well.
However, I want you to understand that this is not your run-of-the-mill protein and weight-loss shake. I would never put my name on anything that failed to hold integrity of ingredients, or was unable to support your lifestyle while doing Metamorphosis. Most (and when I say "most", I mean 90%) of the weight-loss shakes on the market today do nothing for your overall health. Many are like cardboard houses with curb appeal. They have flashy labels and claims, but are loaded with all of the wrong ingredients. Some of these protein blends are not only weak, but if taken consistently they can actually cause weight gain!
SOME OF THE COMMON GIMMICKS THAT OTHER SHAKE COMPANIES USE:
  • Partially hydrogenated oil: to create a smooth texture
  • Non-fat milk powder: to keep the cost down
  • Corn syrup solids and lots of sugars: sweet taste, but harmful to your health
  • Low quality whey protein/domestic whey: can contain hormones, toxins and antibiotics
  • Probiotics: often listed as added benefit, without clinically validated strains
  • Artificial flavoring
  • Fructose as a main ingredient
Drinking shakes that contain these common gimmicks, and expecting to improve upon your health, is like planting dead seeds and expecting a lush, healthy garden to grow. It's just not possible to obtain or sustain great results with these products. And if you've tried other shakes out there and not seen results, I'm sure you can relate.
BELOW ARE SOME IMPORTANT DIFFERENCES FOUND IN MY WELLNESS FORMULA SHAKE:
  • Fully discloses the amino acid profile, which makes up the complete protein formula
  • Includes all 8 essential aminos, and all branch chain aminos, which are necessary building blocks for developing muscle tone
  • Fructose and dairy-free, which helps to optimize your immune function
  • Provides highly-concentrated, pure immunoglobulins, a protein that helps fight bacteria and viruses
  • Provides intestinal support
  • Supports a natural response to inflammation
  • Supports healthy lipid levels
  • Supports lean muscle mass retention
I feel very fortunate to finally be able to offer my shakes as a solution for all of you, and I would like to outline my recommendation for implementing them into your daily eating plan. I recommend that you have only one shake per day as a meal replacement, whether you want to lose or maintain your current weight. I personally love my shake for breakfast, about 30 minutes before I workout. If you are on the Metamorphosis nutrition plan, the shake can act as a substitute for your Think Thin bar. Or, if you have weight and toxins to lose, then you can use the shake in combination with two very healthy meals each day to shed the excess baggage. I like to pour 2 glasses of ice water, put one scoop in each glass, and drink them both for added hydration. Some of my friends prefer to add 2 scoops of powder to their iced coffee each day. There are additional recipes on my website as well, and I would love for you to email me any recipes and suggestions you may have.

My day always starts with a shake, and from that I get a good 4 hours of clean energy without feeling deprived or hungry. I can honestly say that this shake, combined with Metamorphosis, is the total transformation package!
Please don't be turned away from this amazing opportunity by the price. It actually breaks down to $4.20/meal, which can easily be compared to a calorie-loaded drink at many chain coffee shops.
You know that you can't lose weight without exercise, but remember that proper nutrition is essential to not only lose weight, but lose the right kind of weight. Skinny fat is just as disappointing as fat, and I want you to be your most beautiful, proportioned, and healthy self.
Order your shake today!

Looks like a lot of people AREN'T ordering. Well it IS expensive, maybe they could lower the price a bit and more people would order. (I would)  But, as I said before if you have the money, give it a try for even 2 weeks. It did good things for me (kept me full til lunch time and I felt energetic on it as well as eating paleo) and who knows?  I only quit because of the price.

I still have a 2 week supply left that I am going to get back on when I start my program. It's gluten and dairy free so I should be ok. :)

Have a great day!

Some info about Metamorphosis

Hello everyone!

For those of you out there who are wondering what Metamorphosis really consists of, or what future workouts will be like, Tracy has put up a breakdown of what each phase of your transformation will entail, what equipment you will need, and what to expect.

http://tracyandersonmethod.com/metamorphosis/breakdown/

As you can see, the longer you stick with the method, the more complex things get.  In the second year of continuity, the mini trampoline becomes a part of it also.

Just a quick little blurb for today!

A New Plan... Perhaps.

Hello everyone!

Over my time away from blogging, I have been to the doctor and have sorted out the medical problem that I have. A main cure/reduction of the symptoms is losing weight. I have also found out that I am what they call “morbidly obese” and my doc recommended I go on weight watchers.

On another note about being so heavy, it has come to my attention that perhaps maybe. JUST maybe, Tracy's method isn't quite appropriate for someone with as much weight to lose as I have. When I get down to around 200 pounds, then I would be DEFINITELY coming back to TAM. Again, this is tentative right now. Still coming up with a plan of attack but that is one of the options.

Tonight, I am going out with a friend of mine to discuss weight watchers, which she is also going to begin on Monday with me. I am also going to head to Bed Bath and Beyond (for those of you outside the US, that's a houseware/kitchenware store) and pick up the following:

A digital food scale
Good measuring cups (liquid and dry)
Measuring spoons (because a tablespoon from your silverware might not really be a true tablespoon)

I was on WW back in 2007, was VERY diligent and lost a lot of weight, as did my friend. So, we decided we are going to do it again.

As for working out, I am mainly going to focus on walking off the weight, perhaps adding in some jogs.

More to come, have a great day!

Beginning the Clean Program!

Hello everyone!!!

I have decided that as of August 1, I will be starting Dr. Junger's Clean Program.  A friend of mine was kind and very generous enough to send me the kit (Again THANK YOU!) and I might as well use it and it would be in my best interest to do so.

I looked through my cabinets and found some approved items:

Dry chickpeas
Dry Cannellinis
Dry Lentils
Canned Black Beans
Canned Kidney Beans
Red Rice
Brown Rice
Miso paste
Tea
Olive oil
Sesame oil
Almond Milk
Frozen asparagus
Frozen green beans
Frozen snap peas
Organic Gala apples (not sure if they're still good)
Kimchi (Made with cabbage, onion, garlic, sea salt, and chili pepper, which is OK IF you know you are not allergic to nightshades. I do not think I am.)

My friend and I took a ride to whole foods and I picked up some more:

Low-sodium organic Tamari (gluten free soy sauce)
Quinoa (really cheap in bulk)
Organic walnuts
Almond butter (for eating with apples or celery)
Rice pasta
Quinoa/Amaranth/Rice pasta
Brown Rice Syrup

I forgot to pick up nutritional yeast (for that cheesy flavor) and sea salt.  We might go back to the store and I might pick up some teff flatbreads so I can make sandwiches.

Another thing I noticed- You cannot have any form of beef on this cleanse but you CAN have Buffalo.  My friend told me that she had buffalo before, and it tastes just like steak.  Next time we go shopping I might pick up a few Buffalo steaks to freeze/use.

Really excited about this, this will challenge me and really help me expand my culinary horizons in a way.  Anyone else doing this, or going gluten free?  Any tips/tricks for a newbie?

Have a great weekend!

A little change of pace...

Hello everyone-

If you haven’t seen it, I posted on one of my other blog, www.roxyloveskorea.blogspot.com about some Korean workout DVDs. I was able to watch them and after doing so, realized that I would like to try them out and give them a review (since there aren’t any in English that I can find.). The name of the workout is Figurerobics by Jung Dayeon.

She created this workout system after once being overweight herself. (Much like Tracy Anderson)

Before….

And after!

And she's in her 40s.

Another reason I want to give her videos a whirl is because I think TA might be a little much for me right now at my current weight. I don’t feel like I am getting the most out of it, to be honest. Being too heavy makes the DC (probably the more CRUCIAL component) difficult. I am going to try the figurerobics videos (there are 8- 4 are regular aerobics/strength, the other 4 are using a balance ball) and walk for 30-60 minutes. Since there are 4 videos that I have, I am going to rotate them out. Still kind of thinking about how to do it, thinking of doing a different one every day and repeat. Walking I will do 7 days a week and keep to a more Asian-like, low calorie diet (about 1200 calories a day)

Will I go back to TAM? Of course. I just want to try something different.

I hope you guys have a great Monday!

Another new plan

Hello everyone!

I’m starting to feel a little better, cold wise. In my downtime, I have given some things some thought and came to more realizations.

Realization #1: In the evenings when I get home from work, hell, evenings in general (which is usually when I work out) I have as much motivation to do so as a sloth that just smoked a pound of marijuana. Yeah. None.

Solution: Starting to wake up at the buttcrack of dawn and work out then. Then it’s out of the way, out of sight, out of mind. Today I started the early waking by waking up today at 5:15. My goal was 5 but for a “not morning person” like me that’s progress. I am going to have to start waking up like this every day, even on weekends, or as a friend of mine (who also used to be a night owl) said I could really mess myself up by sleeping in every weekend.

Realization #2: The Dynamic Eating Plan that comes with Metamorphosis is not really for me. Why? 1. The preparation. Making all that food for me, is a pain in the ass, heats up my kitchen, takes a long time (Yeah making purees seems like a quick thing to do… Until you actually do it.), etc. 2. The cost. I am still a “broke college student” who is LUCKILY not living on ramen noodles yet. For the time being, spending 50-60$ a week on food just doesn’t seem reasonable for one person. Maybe after I get a real job in the real world, that can happen but for now, no.

Solution: I am going to follow the KISS plan- Keep it simple, stupid! My new plan is to basically eat cleanly and stay around 1200 calories a day. Mainly I will follow this by eating a lot of Korean food which is very healthy, clean, and inexpensive as I live near 2 Korean supermarkets. I will be posting recipes and such in the future. Koreans have the lowest obesity rate in the developed world (3.5%- Used to be Japan which has a 3.9% rate) because of how they eat (I think the whole “Asians have better genetics” thing is bull. I know a lot of fat Asians. If they really could eat whatever they want then why aren’t they all skinny?). Korean food is mainly complex carbohydrates and they do not eat a lot of meat and dairy usually. Also a funny thing- in Korea and Japan they do not eat a lot of fruit. (Fruit has been thought to hinder dieting because of the fructose) They instead handle fruit like a dessert- a treat to be had time to time. I have more to say about the health and weight loss benefits but that’s another blog for another time.

Realization #3- Sticking with ONE metamorphosis, not two, is probably best for me right now. Why? My fitness level is the main reason. Looking back on my noble intentions, I thought “Are you INSANE? Doing one is pretty hard in itself!” Also this goes without saying but overdoing it = injury = no exercise = UNHAPPY ME. Also doing the high impact cardio for more than 30 minutes at my current weight is a suicide mission in the long run, especially for my joints. Sure, I have good shoes and they don’t hurt yet, but there’s the keyword. Yet. Things like this like to creep up and screw you over later.

Solution: Sticking with Abcentric and sticking to it for continuity as well. Gotta lose my “pregnant” belly! Also doing the 30 minutes of Dance Cardio if I can, if I am really NOT feeling like dancing, then I will take a brisk one hour walk weather permitting. If I do my dance cardio, then I will still take that extra half hour walking later on weather permitting. Metamorphosis will be a 6 day a week thing, and on my day off still a 30 minute walk. Also I’d like to work some yoga into my routine in the evenings when I feel up to it. Stretching never hurt.

I started the sleeping plan and eating plan so far today, and I plan on implementing the metamorphosis plan starting Monday, until then I will walk and do yoga because I am still not fully feeling up to meta without dripping snot all over myself.

This week is almost over (thankfully, it’s been rough). Have a great day!

Brainstorming...

Hello!

So lately I hear about people doing 2 different body types of metamorphosis at the same time. I have realized that if you do two completely different (not sharing any levels) body types, then technically you are getting a little bit of all four!

Let me explain.

Omnicentric and hipcentric share all odd levels, the evens are unique to them.  Abcentric and glute also share the odds. Now, if you take one from omni/hip and one from ab/glute you are technically doing all 4!

I am going to use omni and ab as an example (I will be doing this starting July 4)
On levels 1 and 9, all 4 have the same workout. Even levels- Working abs and omni.  Odd levels- working abs, omni, hip AND glute- because the latter two share with the main two.  All levels share the same arms and ab work. All level 2s have the same arms/abs, etc.

Basically the main two you choose would be the ones with your main problem areas. The odd levels are also working those main problem areas and working the secondary ones (doesn't hurt to work those too from time to time).

As for time- it sounds like a lot of working out. However, if you have done Tracy's Mat workout, Post-pregnancy workout, /or the Perfect Design series, those workouts are one hour, as would be combining 2 metas if you do the arms and ab section again.

As for me personally, I had another little period of having to get the junk cravings out of my system, studying for my exam (and my monthly on the way) sort of screwed me up, so this time I will be double-meta-ing starting this coming Monday and will NOT eat all that other food I was eating last time I tried this.  That was also a learning experience for me, now I know better how the diet operates, etc and can be more prepared for it. As I said before I had some errors, not making enough of some foods, etc.

For my American readers, the holiday is coming up (Independence day!) and I am very much looking forward to having the time off to relax. I've been sleep deprived and sore. Yuck.

Have a great Wednesday!

Metamorphosis Day 7

Hello everyone!

After the past less-than-stellar weekend, I am happy to say I am back on track!

I did my MS (25 reps, may up to 30 on day 8) and 30 minutes cardio. I also kept to the metamorphosis diet for week 2-

Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs, 1 cup vanilla almond milk blended with 1 cup of blueberries (I didn't blend them today, I just mixed it and ate it like it was a bowl of cereal)

Lunch: Lemon Cream Pie Think Thin bar- They do taste a TINY bit artificial but they are nice and moist, (much better than brownie crunch or crunchy peanut butter) and I love lemon so it works out.

Dinner: Grilled tofu with a handful of chopped bell peppers

Doesn't sound like much but I didn't feel too hungry throughout the day. I also drank about 80 ounces of water. The plus side is this week I have protein at every meal, different than last week (which could also explain why I am not that hungry)

Back on the subject of cardio- being obese, I actually have heard from someone that I should be doing 300 minutes of cardio a week to really burn off the fat. That equates to 50 minutes a day, 6 days a week. I think I will give 50 minutes a try starting day 8. That includes the Metamorphosis cardio and both combinations of the book DVD. It all depends on how my body feels. If I feel dead after 30 minutes, then I will end at that. If not, then 40, etc.

Have a wonderful day and get your workout done!

Metamorphosis Days 5 and 6

Hello everyone!

A little heads up on what’s been going on- my computer has died over the weekend, so I was unable to post. (I borrowed a laptop that I am using now)

Day 5- Friday

Everything went well today, I did my workout with 25 reps of MS per leg and my cardio ended up getting done. I did cheat on my diet a little (all week I have been! I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I think the time of the month is on the way). One thing I have yet to cheat on is diet soda. I have had none since June 1 and I don’t mind so much.

Day 6- Sunday

I chose Saturday to be my rest day because I just simply felt plain old lazy. Sunday also ended up being a no go for the working out but I hadn’t planned on it. Being father’s day, it ended up being an emotional rollercoaster of a day. I lost my father back in 2003, and from then on every father’s day has been hard. I totally forgot about it on Saturday or I would have pushed to do my workout then. Even though I didn’t work out today, I am going to continue on Monday as day 7, my weight is still going down so missing one day of level 1 shouldn’t hurt.

I hope everyone had a better weekend than me (with the computer and the emotional moments), let’s start the new week off better!

Metamorphosis Day 3

Hello everyone!

Day 3 was a very tiring one. I think I did get enough to sleep the night before but for some reason all day I had the hardest time staying awake and alert. I even took a nap when I got home from work and almost skipped my workout entirely. However, I decided to try and be a trooper and attempt it. I was half successful.

I did my MS work, 20 reps again and really struggling, stopping to yawn after each move. I really wanted to do 25 but my body wasn’t having it, especially with the side-leg lifting moves.

I was all done with my MS, then went to go do my cardio. I went so far as to put the DVD in, still had my shoes on, the whole deal. Then I decided “I’ll sit a minute before I dance” ( Like always, I take a Gatorade/water break/bathroom break before dance cardio) and ended up falling asleep half sitting up on the couch. I won’t let this happen again and may even dance on Sunday (my rest day).

The diet still went well. I think I can deal with these nutrition boost weeks. Next week I actually have choices so it’s going to take some planning and thought on my end so that I don’t cheat. On nutrient boost weeks (little to no protein) I may add a protein shake before bed to help me recover. My solid weeks every meal will have protein in it in some form so the supplementation wouldn’t be needed.

I got on the scale on day 4 (today) despite not doing my cardio, I am now down about 6 pounds since day 1.

Have a great day everyone, the weekend is almost here!

Boot Camp Day 4

Hello everyone!

I have completed days 4 and 5 over the weekend!

Day 4-

Exercise: I unfortunately hardly did any today. I was really busy but I did get 25 reps of arms and abs in.

Breakfast:

Mushroom egg wrap- An egg white omelet filled with mushrooms and spinach and seasoned with chives.  Taste- 9/10
Lunch: Tofu vegetable soup: Tastes a lot like the puree broccoli soup without the blending. 9/10.

Snack: Choco Chestnut Pudding- Out of this world for diet food. REAL chocolate! (I already took a bite before taking the picture) 11/10!

Dinner: Roasted Eggplant and Tomatoes.  Eggplant was good, tomatoes... Not so much. Too liquidy when pureed. Maybe I did something wrong here. 7/10.

I hope you all had a great weekend and keep stopping by!

Day 4- 8/5/10

Hello!

Today was another workout-less day.  Why?  Because I am going to Lollapalooza over this weekend~ LOTS of walking/standing around tomorrow and Sunday. I took it easy on the eating today as well.  Saturday I will be working out, I will be home that day.

Breakfast

1 bowl of rice and an egg

Lunch

Mashed potatoes with a LITTLE butter in it

Dinner

6 inch Italian BMT sub from Subway

Dessert

A snack cake *about 200 calories*
1 glass of coca cola

Tomorrow I am going to still blog/watch the calories albeit very late at night- Going to see Lady Gaga tomorrow night- she also is rumored to be doing the Tracy Anderson Method too! I will be filming the concert/taking pics~ I'll put them up for your enjoyment! :)

Day 2- 8/3/10

Hello!

Today is day two of the quest... And I have to admit, I did slack off a little.  I did not work out today OR eat well... D'oh!!! However, if I go back to the straight and narrow for the rest of the week (at least until Friday) I will have done my required 4-6 day a week workouts.  Therefore I have not considered today to be "falling off the wagon".

I am sore today but nowhere near as torn up as I felt last week.  This time I did PD1 yesterday at my own pace, and only about 10-15 reps a move (last week I tried to keep up with her and do as many.... Fail!)

Today I ate... (this is what makes it worse... But at least I'm admitting it and being accountable!)

Breakfast:

A small bowl of rice and an egg

Midmorning snack (I don't know why but I was so hungry soon after... )

2 twinkies
1 glass of coke (Yeah I know... bad!)

Lunch

Rice and and egg again
corn on the side

Dinner

3 Korean vegetable pancakes (delicious but fried... )

Dessert

2 twinkies

Yeah I know... Horrible. Well, I will do my best to be good from now on, at least until Sunday, my designated cheat day!
