Metamorphosis Day 1

Hello everyone!

I decided to switch from boot camp to metamorphosis, and I began on June 13 (yesterday).  I also took my starting stats.  I ate all manner of foulness (junk food) over the weekend and it made me wake up and realize weight loss is REALLY about 80-90% diet.

Starting weight: 279.4 lb
Bust: 49 inches
Waist: 46 inches
Hips: 53 inches
Arms: L- 17 R- 16
Thighs: L- 30.5 R 31.5

Today I did all of my Muscular Structure work, 20 reps a leg and it KILLED me. As in body-felt-like-rubber killed. But it's not the horrible debilitating "I hurt myself!" pain. I did the DC for 30 minutes, step touching and really using my arms. I know my level (which is VERY IMPORTANT to avoid injury! Don't be a hero!!!) and I do work out hard enough to get tomato red and sweaty. If you can jump around easily (because you are far fitter than I) then go for it. :)

Diet was day 1 of the Nutrient Boost week. This means that every day this week consists of eating:

Kale juice
Carrot Parsnip Puree
Sweet Potato Corn Pudding (Yum!)
Tomato Gazpacho (tastes much better with roasted tomatoes)
Tofu protein soup (or chicken)
Blueberry applesauce
Chocolate chestnut pudding.

Next week I get to eat solids again, but I am actually loving one part of the puree parts- I only had to cook ONCE. Now I have all the food I need for the week, no pots and pans, and it's just there when I need it.

In the end, day 1 done! 89 to go!

So you've been MIA with this blog...

Hey everyone...

I haven't posted a new blog in a really long time. I can explain!
The reason: I have been sick as a dog- I only started getting better yesterday.  I had a really bad cold, fever, coughing up mucus (oooh sexy!) no voice, and my nose dripping worse than a hungry bulldog.

I do have a Metamorphosis update- I got my copy on the 7th! I would have started already but I was feeling pretty damn craptacular.
I will post pics of the box, what came inside it, etc.   I also took this sick time to sit down and watch all of the workouts in their entirety, not just to see if they all play well, but also to see what I'm in for.

From what I have seen:

Cardio requires very little space, so all of us small living room people need not worry.
The only equipment you will need is a mat, your shoes and up to 3 lb weights if you're a woman, 5-8 if you're a man.  No chairs, standing legs. The leg work is done on the floor and on all fours (or threes or twos, depending on the move).

I have also entered a challenge beginning on Valentine's day- do my Meta work outs 6 days a week with a MINIMUM Of 30 minutes of cardio each day.  Cardio has always been my killer. I am willing to do the MS, but then it's cardio time and I'm usually less than enthused.

Well, that's it for now- posts later to come with pics and possibly a video. Depends if I can get the camcorder set up in such a way that I can do a vlog with it.

Past couple of days and Metamorphosis!!!!

Hello everyone!!!!

Well, not feeling well today.  Lady problem is in town and ruining my life, haha. That said, yesterday I weighed in and STILL lost another pound. I am now at 271.8 pounds, a total loss of 3.6 pounds since last Tuesday. Not bad.

I again, did my TA connect webisodes at the gym yesterday- except abs, which somehow didn't end up on my ipod. (This has since been fixed!)

For those of you who do not know what the TA connect webisodes are, here they are for your viewing enjoyment!

Butt and Thighs:

Arms: (This got me stares at the gym, people were looking at me doing unweighted arms like I was crazy, haha)

Abs:

I was only able to do 10 reps of the butt and thighs yesterday, usually able to do at least 20.  Going to try 20 reps today with some Beginner Dance Cardio.  At the gym yesterday I wasn't feeling up to dancing so I took a nice brisk walk on the treadmill.

Last night I also pigged out on hot dogs and fries (had 2 orders, I was starving and my period was totally thinking for me, but it's ok because it's not an every day occurence anymore) so now I am drinking a lot of water to flush that sodium and bloat out of me.

Also, for those of you who do not know, Tracy Anderson came out with a new video program- Metamorphosis by Tracy~!

The short version of the commercial can be found on Tracy's site:

What it is is a 90 day program with 9 different exercises that you change every ten days, as well as a cardio DVD.  There are also four options, based on your body type and the problem areas you would like to address.

I ordered the set for those of us who want to fix our entire body- Omnicentric.  The other three centrics are Abcentric, Glutecentric, and Hipcentric.

I am still waiting for mine to arrive but as soon as I do, I will blog!  Warning- due to the excitement this will cause, corresponding blog post may be totally incoherent!

Boot Camp on a Budget!

Hi guys!!!

A common complaint I hear about Tracy's bootcamp diet is that it's expensive, time consuming, etc. Well, generally, yeah, they're kinda right!   I decided to take a quick look through the recipes again to see if there was anything that can be made without finding really exclusive, expensive ingredients and I did find quite a few!

Now to do bootcamp on a budget, the key is to make meals like these (or if there are other ones you like that are convenient and affordable for you) and eat them more often.  Repeating meals instead, in my opinion, can help make the diet portion of the Boot Camp easier and possibly more bearable taste wise.

Off the top of my head, here are some that seem fairly wallet friendly:

Chicken Protein Soup
Balsamic Chicken Salad
Pepper Onion Egg Wrap
French Chicken and Braised Leek
Grilled Chicken with broccoli/endive (skip the endive possible)
Grilled Flank Steak
Baked Sweet Potato
Corn and Sweet Peppers
Pea Mash
Roasted Root Vegetables
Roasted Vegetables
Steamed Broccoli
Roasted Carrots (if you can't find the purple/white ones, I'd just use orange carrots)
Steamed veggie plate
Apple with peanut/almond butter

Again this is just a general list, if you do it this way, your choices may be different!  Starting the Old Year Resolutions Monday!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Old-Year Resolutions!

Hey everyone-

Feeling a little depressed today.  Looking back, this week, I have been less than great about my workouts. Even the small goals (like working out 4 times a week) seem to be just slacked off.  I need to stop this!!!! I also need to really re-evaluate what I eat, it seems when  I count calories, then the weight seems to budge. When I don't, nothing happens or I blow out like a Goodyear blimp.

On a side note about my health, a friend of mine suggested I may have hypothyroidism, which is also making my weight gain harder, as well as other symptoms. Going to the doctor soon to get that investigated. Will update later.

I really need to make a change- I need to train up to be able to do Boot Camp again (hopefully for January to kick off the new year!)
I also think this winter weather really affects my motivation to do anything.  I've been sleeping in a lot, which ruins my day because then I don't have time to do anything.

So the goals- which I really have NO EXCUSES not to do because I am at home most of the time-are:

1. Cardio 6 times a week. Deciding to mix it up depending on my mood between boot camp and Beginner DC.

2. Mat Workout 4-6 times a week, before the cardio, aim for 5 more reps on legs each time I do it.  Gotta push all that stuff to the surface to be melted away!

3. Calorie limit- 1000-1300 calories a day, lower on days I do less exercise.  This has worked well for me in the past.

4. Mondays will be the new days off until winter break starts for me (no work, and no class during this time, where it will be reverted back to Sunday) since I currently have 2 big obligations on Mondays.

5. Be more consistent with my  blogging.  I see I've been slacking a bit lately.  Sorry guys!!!

I call these my Old-Year Resolutions. It's the last month of the year, hence the name. Boot Camp will be the New Year kickoff! So excited. I think that if I keep up the Old-Year goals, I should be strong enough physically to do the boot camp. (Of course it will still be hard!)

Do you guys have any old-year resolutions?  What would you do to change before the new year starts?

Days 10 and 11... Disappointment.

Hey guys.

Today I totally fell off the wagon as did yesterday. Ugh.

Day 10- didn't exercise, had no energy, and I craved (and ate!) chocolate like it was going out of style.   And if that doesn't make me feel bad enough...

Day 11- Was SUPPOSED to be my first day of sequence 2. However, those chair workouts in my current fitness level just don't seem to want to happen and I had started thinking of an alternative, or lose weight doing other of Tracy's stuff before attempting boot camp.  My flexibility and everything is SHIT compared to when I was slimmer, probably because I didn't have all this fat in the way.

What I am thinking of doing, at least until December, is still work out daily but going back to basics- the good ol' Mat DVD and work on that until I master it, doing Bootcamp cardio after it, since at least THAT part seems to sort of be going well.

Pennies for thoughts are always appreciated.

9/29/10

Hello!

Another good day here back in the swing of things.  2 days back in and already I see myself flattening out again and the scale starting to go down. Very motivating!

I had a pretty low cal day today I think.  I don't really count calories anymore, but eat cleaner and keep my portions smallish instead.

Breakfast:
2 hard boiled eggs
1 cup of strawberries
1 cup (measured) of orange juice

Lunch:

Romaine mixed salad (a good size bowl, two really big handfuls and a little more)
1 Tbsp of balsamic vinegar

Dinner:

Grilled chicken breast
1 cup of brown rice
Green beans

I wasn't too hungry today but I made sure to eat when I was.  Also drank 12 cups of water (about 3 liters)

Exercise:

PD1 with 15 reps per leg.  The butt workouts after the arm section KILL me even to do 10. It's always been like that.  I have always had trouble building muscle.  At one point I even tried personal training and lifting weights, and I did so every other day and barely got stronger.  In 4 months I went from curling 15 pounds to 20. And that was a struggle in itself.  I actually took a body type quiz and found out that I am a mix of an endomorphic type and an ectomorph type.  The endomorph causes me to have a slower metabolism, and the ectomorph part keeps me from building muscle to boost it.  Makes perfect sense.  I was slim for a lot of my life until I blew up in my early adult years.

If interested, the quiz is here:

As for cardio, this time I wasn't able to do QUITE as much (only 5 minutes, running late for class) but I really put my all into it.  When I enter it into my ipod app, I list it as vigorous rope jumping (At this point I'm doing mostly jumping jacks and jumps because my legs are really weak... Even after 5 minutes I'm on fire!) and it comes up as I burned about 100 calories.  I believe it. :)
